    Earth Day Lettering Image

Today marks the 50th Anniversary of celebrating Earth Day ! Although the world is facing a worldwide coronavirus pandemic, let’s take a moment to celebrate our Planet Earth. In honor of our earth today, explore a few ways that you can make a difference towards building a greener, healthier planet!

The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action. Whether you believe in the climate change or not, it is evident that negative changes to our ecosystem are taking place globally. If everyone just made a few adjustments in their daily life, it would help tremendously. We are in this together, so let’s all do our part to make a difference!

“Earth day is a day for all of us to remember the environment in our busy lives. … Things like turning off the lights, the conservation of energy, plant trees, recycle, reduce, and reuse.”

    Reduce The Use of Plastics

Did you know that over 8 million metric tons of plastics are dumped into the ocean every year? That’s equivalent to one city garbage truck dumping every minute of the day!

    Watch “The Plastic Crisis”

Ways to reduce plastic use at home

    • buy glass over plastic
    • support companies with re-useable plastics with cleaning products
    • don’t use disposable plastics: razors, bags, cups, bottles, straws, …
    • use glass food storage containers
    • use sustainable beeswax food wraps

    Eat More Plant Based Foods

Did you know that meat, aquaculture, eggs, dairy use about 83% of the worlds farmlands and contribute 60% of greenhouse gas emissions? Yet these foods only provide 18% of the calories we consume.

    Watch “Forks Over Knives”

Ways to take a “bite” out of climate change

    • simply eat more plants & less meat
    • shop farmers markets
    • avoid feedlot meat
    • select sustainably raised fish
    • waste less food
    • increase your food budget
    • support small farms
    • cook from scratch

Plant herbs at home in pots or an outdoor garden

Plant a Garden, Herbs and Trees

Did you know that a mature tree can consume 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year (among other greenhouse gases like ozone), and releases enough oxygen for you to breathe for two years?

The Gutenberg editor uses blocks to create all types of content, replacing a half-dozen ways of customizing WordPress, bringing it in line with modern coding standards, and aligning with open web initiatives. That sounds pretty great huh?

Watch “How to Save Our Planet”

Ways to make a difference at home

    • create a backyard garden
    • grow micro-greens
    • start an herb garden
    • learn about urban roof-top gardens
    • join a community garden
    • donate and plant a tree
    • support to stop deforestation

Support the future of our Soil

Did you know that building healthy soil on a global scale is one of the best ways to draw down enough carbon to prevent a catastrophic climate crisis?

    Watch “The Soil Story”

How to become a soil advocate

    • join a local CSA
    • start a compost at home
    • learn how to grow your own food at home
    • support regenerative agriculture
    • become a “Kiss the Ground” member
    • support by purchasing organics when possible

The world needs you — and your actions — for Earth Day 2020 and Beyond!
